Correcting a false claim, and removing Plaid for real

On July 5 we said we had stripped the remnants of an abandoned bank-linking experiment. That was not true. The Plaid integration was still in the codebase: the dependency, the API routes, the client library, and a database table built to hold bank access tokens. The interface was hidden, but the capability shipped. Our security page said no Plaid while the code said otherwise. Today it is actually gone. Dependency removed, routes deleted, database table dropped, API keys revoked. There is no bank-linking code in Subnope. We also found that signing in with Google was requesting permission to read your Gmail as part of ordinary sign-in, before you had asked for email scanning. That was wrong. Google sign-in now requests your identity only, and tokens stored under the old permission have been deleted. No customer data was affected. We are writing this down because a privacy product that quietly fixes its own false claims is not a privacy product.

Export buttons fixed

Export all subscriptions as CSV and export your vault as a printable PDF report now both work. These buttons have been on the Data and Privacy page since launch and were silently broken. A trust product that cannot let you export your own data is not a trust product.

Email scan marked coming soon

Automatic Gmail scanning is fully built but requires Google's formal security verification for restricted scopes. We chose to complete that properly rather than ship it in a half-working state. Until it is verified, the buttons say so honestly.

Mobile fixed; renewal dates cured at the root

The dashboard sidebar now collapses correctly on phones. Renewal dates roll forward automatically per billing cycle so a passed date can never show as overdue.

Vault warning emails before the trigger

Your vault no longer fires cold. We now email you at 15 days and again at 5 days before your inactivity window closes. One sign-in resets everything.

The honesty batch

Removed a statistic we could not substantiate, relabeled illustrative data as an example, corrected our two-factor wording, and removed bank-linking references from the interface. Also shipped: shareable marketing pages, a real 404, JSON-LD, favicon, social preview image, and a canonical domain redirect. Correction (July 12): we originally described this as stripping the bank-linking remnants. It was not. The code was still there. See the July 12 entry.
