Subnope vs Rocket Money
Both track your subscriptions. They start from opposite assumptions about what that requires. Here is an honest comparison, including where Rocket Money is genuinely the better choice.
The core difference
Rocket Money connects to your bank or card via Plaid and automatically detects recurring charges from your transaction history. That is powerful. It needs no setup from you and it sees everything, including subscriptions you forgot to track.
Subnope never asks for bank access. You add subscriptions yourself. Less automatic, more private, and that is a deliberate tradeoff, not an oversight.
If you are comfortable with an app having standing read access to your bank transactions, Rocket Money's automation is genuinely more convenient. Subnope is for people who are not.

Where Rocket Money is the better choice
Being direct about this, because a comparison page that only flatters itself is not trustworthy.
- You want one app for your entire financial picture: budgeting, net worth, bill negotiation, not just subscriptions.
- You have subscriptions you have genuinely forgotten about and want them surfaced automatically.
- You are comfortable with Plaid-level bank access and the convenience is worth it to you.
Where Subnope is the better choice
- You do not want another app with standing access to your bank transactions, full stop.
- You want a digital legacy plan: someone you trust notified and given cancellation instructions if something happens to you. Rocket Money does not do this.
- You would rather spend 20 seconds adding a subscription than grant transaction-level bank access to get it detected automatically.
- You want to see exactly what the product does. No bank-linking means fundamentally less that can go wrong or be exposed in a breach.
A note on trust
We are a small, early product built by one person. Rocket Money is backed by a large team with years in market, and that matters. We are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can offer is transparency: our security page states exactly what we encrypt and how, and our changelog shows what we ship, honestly, every week.
